The Livadeia Central Public Library was founded in 1954 and belongs to the Ministry of Education. It is situated in the city centre and has over 100.000 volumes, covering every possible aspect of interest. The library has a children’s and teenagers’ section as well as a reading room. A reading and a book therapy group also exist. The library organizes events, seminars and talks as well as a summer reading and creativity campaign. Since 1980 the library has operated its own mobile library unit, that is, a special bookmobile. The mobile library unit is active on the wider region of Central Greece by founding small book borrowing centers. The Livadeia Public Library also holds seasonal book sales in its premises and is in constant cooperation with the city schools.

The Livadeia Theatre Friends Club was founded in the city of Livadeia in 1995 with the purpose of providing the friends of stage craft with the opportunity to come into contact with theater. Originally housed in the basement of the centre for culture and arts, it was later moved to a special small room by the members of the club. Since then it has supported and organized every activity related to the theater and the arts in the city and prefecture of Boeotia. This little city stage has helped the stage activity and has often hosted plays by well known playwrights. Furthermore, it takes part in the annual Trophonia festivities every year. The Municipal theatre organizes shows, seminars and movie screenings, thus supporting the theatre education of the people of Boeotia.

LIVADEIA DANCING AND FOLKLORIC GROUP
The Livadeia Dancing & Folkloric Group was founded in 2006, aiming at the preservation of local dances and folklore. For many years, the people of Livadeia have shown their interest in the regional dancing traditions through local festivals and customs. The Group has therefore responded to this interest by having numerous members. It has five dancing groups for adults, one dancing group for primary school children and one for junior high school children. The group takes part in numerous cultural festivals in Boeotia and other regions. Of utter importance is the group’s participation in the regional festivals and celebrations that take place on a regular basis.

Founded in 2005, the Livadeia Photographic Club was the first photographic club in the capital city of Boeotia. The club’s purpose lies in the spreading of the art of photography to amateur photographers. Furthermore, the club aims at the creation of a complete photo archive of the region of Livadeia. The club has more than 60 members. The group organizes lessons, lectures and seminars, relevant projections as well as organized field trips. The club wishes to create a library on photography and photo albums. Moreover, the Livadeia Photographic Club is in constant contact and cooperation with other photographic clubs and amateur groups. It organizes exhibitions of its members’ work on a regular basis, thus providing a showcase for its important artistic work.
ART WAREHOUSE IN DILESI
In the coastal town of Dilesi, just 50 km. from the capital, painter and sculptor Alexandros Liapis decided to found his atelier. Within meters of the artist’s residence lies a modern construction, specially designed for this purpose. The artist’s sculptures can be seen in the external premises, thus creating an open air glyptotheque. The warehouse building itself is a modern architecture artwork. Built with concrete among the trees, it is in complete harmony with the environment and fully utilizes the solar position, in order to achieve the best possible natural lighting. The architectural work has participated in architectural competitions, both in Greece and abroad.
